Ebb Privacy Policy

Ebb is a local-first craving companion. Your journal, anchors, settings, and tide history stay on your device by default. Ebb does not run ads, sell personal data, or use a third-party behavioral analytics SDK.

Data We Store On Your Device

Ebb stores your journal events, slip notes, anchors, reminder settings, language, theme, haptics preference, and onboarding choices locally on your device. You can delete this local data from Settings, Data, Delete all data.

Optional iCloud Sync Builds

The default 1.0 store build keeps journal data local. If you later use an iCloud-enabled build, Ebb may sync journal events, anchors, settings, pending sync operations, and deletion tombstones through your private CloudKit private database in your signed-in Apple iCloud account. Ebb uses iCloud only for that signed-in user’s private database, not for advertising or behavioral analytics. If iCloud is full, offline, restricted, or signed out, Ebb keeps saving local records and pauses cloud sync until the account is available again.

Subscriptions

If you subscribe to Ebb+, subscription status and renewal information may be processed by RevenueCat, Apple, and Google. Your journal content is not sent to RevenueCat or store billing systems by Ebb.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, Ebb schedules local tide-hour reminders on your device. Ebb does not use reminders for advertising or guilt messaging.

Export And Sharing

If you export your journal, Ebb creates the file on your device and opens the system share sheet. Ebb does not upload the export.

Support

If you email support, we receive the email address and message content you choose to send.

Data Controller And Processors

For data protection questions, Ebb is the data controller for support requests and app-account related communications you choose to send to us. Apple, Google, RevenueCat, and Apple iCloud/CloudKit act as independent controllers or processors for store billing, subscription entitlement, and optional private iCloud sync as described in their own terms.

Ebb has not appointed a formal Data Protection Officer unless applicable law requires one. Use [email protected] as the data protection contact for GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, or similar privacy requests.

Data Retention

Local journal data, anchors, settings, and tide history stay on your device until you delete them, uninstall the app, or the operating system removes app data. Optional iCloud sync data remains in your private CloudKit database until you delete it through Ebb’s delete-all-data flow or through your Apple iCloud account controls. Support emails are retained only as long as needed to answer the request, keep security records, or meet legal obligations.

Health Boundary

Ebb is not a medical device, diabetes tool, nutrition tracker, or eating-disorder treatment. If you have diabetes, hypoglycemia, metabolic conditions, an eating-disorder history, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are under 16, talk to a qualified professional before using Ebb.
